The 2019 World Food Prize Laureate is Simon Groot of East-West Seed. Groot’s company trains tens of thousands of farmers each year about vegetable production, moving them from subsistence farming to entrepreneurship. The World Food Prize was founded in 1986 by former Nobel Peace Prize recipient Norman Borlaug. Groot will receive his award this fall in Des Moines.
