With record delays in U.S. corn planting, Smithfield Foods is purchasing corn from South America. Reuters is reporting Smithfield Foods is buying grain from ADM and other unnamed companies. Rather than shipping corn from the Midwest, Smithfield has found it can be cheaper to bring in corn from Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay.
