Brazil has temporarily suspended beef exports to China while a case of BSE is investigated. A 17 year-old cow with “atypical” BSE was identified in Mato Grosso before it entered the food supply. The trade suspension gives the Chinese government time to review details of the case. China is the largest export market for Brazilian beef, representing 20 percent of all international sales.
