President Donald Trump is in Japan, meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. During a news conference, President Trump said the goal is to remove trade barriers to put the U.S. on fair footing with other countries in Japan. The two leaders agreed to speed up the bilateral trade talks but would not commit to the timing of an agreement. In a Sunday tweet, Trump said he expects any big trade moves to wait until after Japan’s election in July.
