The North Dakota Senate Agriculture Committee passed House Bill 1388, a corporate farming bill, out of committee. An amendment to the legislation that clarified second cousins and those closer did not make it into the final bill passed out of committee. North Dakota Farmers Union President Mark Watne is disappointed the bill moved forward. “It was somewhat expected, but we’re somewhat upset. It doesn’t seem to matter what the people of North Dakota think about corporate farming, the legislature will continue to change it.” The bill could be up for a vote the week of April 8.
