A coalition of agriculture groups are urging Congress to provide $10 million for the Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network in fiscal year 2020. The program provides grants for extension services, state departments of agriculture and other entities to administer stress assistance programs. The groups noted the downturn in the farm economy is causing stress for farmers and ranchers, with net farm income in 2018 nearly 50 percent less than five years ago. Congress provided $2 million in the fiscal year 2019 appropriations bill for a pilot of the program.
