Four Minnesota soybean farmers are traveling to the Philippines and Malaysia this week to explore market opportunities. Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council Chair Patrick O’Leary is one of those farmers. He says the group will spend a few days meeting with customers and getting information from the Foreign Agricultural Service. “From there, we’ll fly to Malaysia to meet with one of our customers looking at soybean meal and then, we’ll be back in Manila to spend time at the U.S. Soybean Export Council Conference.” O’Leary says both markets have significant growth potential. “They want a clean, good quality bean and we have the ability to provide that for them.” The group of farmers attending also include Ben Storm from Dover, Christian Lillanthal of Arlington and Margie Salentiny of Dundee.
