Trade took center stage in Thursday’s Senate Agriculture Committee hearing with Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue. After comments on U.S.-China trade talks, Chairman Pat Roberts asked Perdue what he would say to farmers being impacted with trade tariffs. “The best advice I can give farmers is to do what they’ve always done,” said Perdue. “Look at market signals, their own market schemes and consider where they’d lose the least. We hope conclusions can come to the trade discussions, but it’s never over until it’s over.”
