The extreme cold is quite rare for early March, and those bone-chilling temperatures moved into the Northern Plains over the weekend. The coveted question is: are there warmer temps in the forecast? Based at Grand Forks, National Weather Service meteorologist Andrew Moore says there is hope for the middle of the month. “Far range models show around March 14-15 we could start to see temperatures climb above freezing,” says Moore. However, those warmer digits may not stick around for too long. “A couple systems may move in right after that could drop temperatures back below freezing. There is hope at the end of the tunnel, and right now were aiming for mid-March.”
