On Wednesday, U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer went before the House Ways and Means Committee with the trade relationship between the U.S. and China being the focus. “We are making real progress, but, let me be clear, much still needs to be done both before an agreement is reached and after.” Lighthizer described the negotiations as ‘a process’. “I’m not foolish enough to think there will be one negotiation that will change all of China’s practices or our relationship. If we’re successful, there will be a signing and then a long process and I believe other problems will arise and will have to be dealt with.”
