Last week, the North Dakota House Appropriations Committee approved a hold-even budget for NDSU Extension. The committee also approved cuts to the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station budget. North Dakota State University Associate Vice-President for Agricultural Affairs Greg Lardy is disappointed in the committee’s recommendation on the experiment station. Now it will go to the full House for a vote. The cuts for the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station budget were those recommended by the governor. This includes a $2.9 million cut for the main experiment station and $1.2 million for the various branch stations. This is a significant cut which could mean job cuts. Lardy says the hearing with the Senate Appropriations Committee is scheduled for March 20.
