The University of Illinois has discovered waterhemp resistance to the Group 15 herbicides. Tom Peters, an agronomist specializing in weed control for NDSU and University of Minnesota Extension, says this is very concerning. “These are these are herbicides we’re using for water management in sugarbeets in Minnesota and North Dakota.” Speaking at the Winter Sugarbeet Growers Seminar, Peters told growers to be aware of resistance. “We will proceed as normal and focus on killing waterhemp.” We’ll know more about how it changes the weed management system later.”
