The University of Minnesota Extension and NDSU Extension are hosting a series of Sugarbeet Growers Seminars in the next couple of weeks. Sugarbeet specialist Mohamed Khan says beet growers have done a good job on Cercospora leaf spot. “In the northern part of the Red River Valley, this is not too much of an issue. I was surprised some growers had three to four applications. However, we recommend farmers scout fields and be on top of this issue,” explains Khan. “Growers should start early, use high water volume and keep the population down.” Khan reminds growers to also use multiple fungicides.
