A Danish farm cooperative known as DLF Seeds acquired the Syngenta sugarbeet seed business just over a year ago. DLF Seeds CEO Truels Damsgaard outlined that transition at the American Sugarbeet Growers Association annual meeting. “We saw it as a unique opportunity when Syngenta wanted to quit this segment of the seed world; we have good synergies on the R & D side with our other activities.” The Hilleshog brand continued with the DLF acquisition. “We believe farmers want competition in the (sugarbeet seed) value chain and our responsibility is to be a valued competitor and bring new technology to the market. We have a good chance of success in that.”
