Farmers and ranchers can get the latest updates in ag production, crop economics, livestock and more at this year’s Lake Region Extension Roundup, January 8 and 9 in Devils Lake, North Dakota. Ramsey County Extension cropping systems agent Bill Hodous says a number of sessions will take place throughout the two-day event. “There’s a struggle in the marketplace right now, and that struggle becomes two-fold,” says Hodous. “Along with that, weather during the planting and harvest seasons was challenging. So storage will be one of the hot topics to maintain the product that farmers have.” Each day will wrap up with a featured speaker. On Tuesday, family farm coach Elaine Froese will highlight the importance of succession planning. Randy Martinson of Martinson Ag Risk Management will provide a market outlook to round out Wednesday’s events. Attending the roundup is free of charge, and no registration is necessary.
