The U.S. Department of Agriculture released the final text of the National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard on Thursday. In reviewing the standard, agriculture groups are pleased, saying it stands firmly with science in it validates the fact there is no health, safety or nutritional difference between bioengineered crops and comparable conventional or organic crops. National Corn Growers Association President Lynn Chrisp says he hopes this rule will be a major step in preventing a state patchwork of labeling laws.
