Pending regulatory approval, Cargill is selling its malt business to a French-based cooperative named Boormalt. Cargill has 15 malt plants around the world. Earlier this year, Cargill announced plans to close its Jamestown, North Dakota plant. With less demand for six-row barley from the brewing industry, production declined at that Jamestown facility.
