The Northern Plains Potato Growers Association is reporting positive news for the midpoint of the Red River Valley fresh potato shipping season. The color and quality of this year’s crop is called excellent. Supplies are also more manageable after a nearly ten percent cut in fresh acres in the Red River Valley. Crop losses in Wisconsin and Canada have increased local demand. Trucking has been more available this season, which is welcome news after severe shortages last year.
