USDA has launched the final round of trade mitigation payments. Farmers are now eligible to receive Market Facilitation Program payments for the second half of their 2018 production. For farmers who have already applied, completed harvest and certified their production, the second payment will be issued on the remaining 50 percent of total production, multiplied by the MFP rate for the specific commodity. That puts soybeans at 82.5 cents per bushel, wheat at seven cents, corn at one-half cent per bushel, milk at six cents per hundredweight and hogs are $4 per head. Farmers only need to complete the sign-up process once, with the application period continuing through January 15, 2019. Full details can be found in the official USDA press release.
