Local farmers, like Minnesota Association of Wheat Growers President Steve Lacey, are happy for the farm bill progress. “We were all hoping lawmakers would get a farm bill done on time (by September 30), but they didn’t. Just like harvest around here, we all thought it would get done on time, but it didn’t,” says Lacey. “We’re happy the farm bill is almost done, because farm communities need some sense of security right now with low prices and record crops.”
