North Dakota Congressman-Elect Kelly Armstrong is preparing for the upcoming legislative session in Washington D.C. “We have 85 new members of Congress. Before we can advocate for an issue, it’s important to inform people what’s going on,” says Armstrong. “People think food comes from a grocery store, gas comes from the gas pump and electricity comes from the light socket.” There is also uncertainty on committee assignments. “Eventually, I’d like to end up in Energy and Commerce or Agriculture committees, but those are long shots in the first term,” he says. “We are more likely to serve on the Transportation and Infrastructure committee.”
