NDSU Extension is hosting a series of Beef Quality Assurance meetings across the state. As of January 1, 2019, several large beef processors will start requiring Beef Quality Assurance certification for cattle feeders. These processors won’t purchase fed cattle unless the feed yard is BQA certified.”If producers think they are going to sell finished cattle, they need to contact their buyer,” says Lisa Pederson, beef quality assurance specialist, NDSU Extension. “That way, they can determine what they need for BQA certification.” In addition, Pederson encourages cattle feeders to bring ideas to meetings and ask questions. ” BQA meetings will be held Wednesday in Bismarck and December 20 in Carrington.
