Bayer will eliminate 12,000 jobs worldwide, including 4,200 positions in its crop science division. Those cuts are attributed to the integration of Monsanto into Bayer. To strengthen its core agriculture business, Bayer also plans to sell off its animal health division. In a conference call, Bayer Chairman Werner Baumann said these decisions position the company for the future and nothing to do with the glyphosate lawsuits in the United States.
