Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar tells the Red River Farm Network the farm bill agreed upon is similar to the Senate’s version. “Obviously, the key points are the strong safety net is still in place,” says Klobuchar. “Given what we’ve seen with low commodity prices, extra help for dairy, improving the Agricultural Risk Coverage program and the sugar program stays the same. The Foot and Mouth Disease vaccine bank is also included.” The House would like to address the legislation within the next week. The Senate will be in session a little longer and could move the legislation as a stand-alone bill or along with the budget bill. “My goal is, no matter what it takes to pass it, we will find a way.”
