Midwest farmland values were mixed in the third quarter. A survey from the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank shows farmland values were one percent lower than last year. This was the first quarterly decline for ag land values in the region since the fourth quarter of 2016. In the absence of exceptional crop yields, the report says land values would have experienced more downward pressure.
