As Minnesota farmers wrap up harvest, University of Minnesota Extension Weed Scientist Jeff Gunsolus is reflecting on noxious weeds like Palmer amaranth. He thinks it’s important to understand what the weed looks like so farmers can identify it quickly. “It’s important to know how the weed is getting here,” says Gunsolus. “It’s cheaper to address the weed in fields sooner than later.” Gunsolus says thinks it’s also important to get the weed tested for herbicide resistance.
