The National Pork Board, United Soybean Board and National Corn Growers Association have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on a sustainability research platform. The research program will include the sharing of research and communicating results with each organization’s members. Continuous improvement is a shared focus among pork, soybean and corn producers. “It’s important because sustainability has become a business imperative all through the supply chain,” says NPB CEO Bill Even. “We want to meet those expectations of consumers as we work on continuous improvement.” Lewis Bainbridge, USB chair and South Dakota farmer, goes on to say most farmers are invested in multiple commodities. “And invested in more than one organization, so it’s important that we are collaborating whenever we can.” A task force of farmer representatives from each group will be formed and responsible for managing and evaluating the activities outlined in the MOU.
