The federal district court in Montana has granted R-CALF’s motion to expand its beef checkoff lawsuit to include at least 13 additional states. South Dakota is one of the states on that list; North Dakota and Minnesota are not. R-CALF claims the mandatory beef checkoff subsidizes private or corporate speech. USDA has 14 days to respond to this latest court decision.
