Iowa State University Extension Weed Management Specialist Bob Hartzler says the new label appears to be a ‘one size fits all’ approach and this doesn’t work for dicamba. “I understand the difficulty in managing this by EPA, because they don’t want to have separate labels for every state. We still need to fully understand the new restrictions.” There are still unknowns on the label. Hartzler is uncertain if the 45-days restriction would totally replace the ‘up to and including R1 stage of soybeans.’ Hartzler also says the endangered species portion of the label is surprising, noting the EPA is vague on this restriction.
