For Napoleon Livestock, the fall cattle run has been delayed due to the stretch of wet weather in early October. Dual crop and cattle producers are focused on harvest right now. “The time wasn’t there to give preconditioning shots and conditions weren’t ideal to work cattle,” says co-owner Jim Bitz. “Size-wise, our normal runs have been cut in half in comparison to previous years.” Over the next two weeks, Bitz expects the fall run to pick up pace. “People typically like to get calves sold before Thanksgiving. We also have a large stock cow sale coming up on November 19, with a 1,000 cows and heifers already listed.”
