North Dakota ranchers in Eddy, Foster, Nelson, Bottineau, McHenry, Renville, Ward and Wells Counties may be eligible for USDA’s Livestock Forage Disaster Program. Drought ratings in these counties have triggered eligibility requirements for the program. North Dakota Farm Service Agency Agricultural Program Specialist Brad Olson says ranchers must own, lease or rent the livestock or pasture. “They must also file an acreage report on that grazing land. The deadline to do that is November 15.” Olson encourages ranchers to discuss eligibility requirements with their local FSA office. Only land physically located in the eight qualifying counties will be considered for program payments. The deadline for application is January 30, 2019. Listen to more of the interview.
