Brazilian ag consultant Kory Melby expects China to need more U.S. soybeans this fall. “It looks like China needs up to 10 million tons of soybeans for the fourth quarter and until Brazil can come on line again in February, 2019.” Melby says those sales will primarily be U.S. beans shipped through Argentina, Brazil and even Canada. “They will liquidate the Brazilian soybeans that are in inventory here yet to China and process the American beans into meal for domestic consumption in Brazil. Now I hear it is highly likely the Canadian grain buyers are buying U.S. beans to be shipped out west to Vancouver.”
