The soybean yields are a pleasant surprise for some farmers this fall. Golden Harvest agronomist Adam Aarestad says yields may be better than what was anticipated. “In the (Red River) Valley, I’ve heard anywhere from 40-to-50 bushels and there’s 40 bushel beans in the Minot area. In general, I think guys are more pleased than they could have been.” Aarestad says stalk rot isn’t widespread, but advises farmers to do a ‘pinch’ test. “Go to the base of the stalk about six inches up and pinch the stalk. If it collapses, you probably have stalk integrity issues.”
