Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley met with the U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer on Monday, September 17. Grassley says the U.S. and Canada are working through issues in the updated North American Free Trade Agreement. “We talked a lot about agriculture. Dairy, poultry and eggs remain a sticking point. Canada’s supply management system for dairy is a problem.” Grassley adds “There are also hurdles that remain on the dispute arbitration mechanism. That also involves sunset provisions that allow the trade pact to be reviewed every six years.”
