Details of the Administration’s $12 billion farm assistance plan will be announced today. This plan will provide direct payments to soybean, wheat, corn, sorghum, cotton, dairy and hog farmers. It also includes government food purchases and a trade promotion program. While in New York State, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue said the program will not make everyone whole and “it’s not going to make everybody happy.” This relief is designed to partially offset the impact of trade retaliation. Soybean farmers are expected to get the largest share of the market facilitation payments.
