With the divestiture of certain assets to BASF wrapped up, Bayer can now integrate Monsanto into its business. Bayer closed on the deal in early June but had to delay integration process until the U.S. Justice Department antitrust actions were finalized. Bayer will drop the Monsanto brand name. Meanwhile, Bayer also takes on Monsanto’s legal battle. Earlier this month, a California court ordered Monsanto to pay nearly $290 million to a former groundskeeper who is dealing with a terminal cancer diagnosis. In a statement, Bayer said the court decision is “at odds” with science and real-world experience.
