The North American Manure Expo took place August 15 and 16 in Brookings, South Dakota. Mary Berg, livestock environmental management specialist at NDSU’s Carrington Research Extension Center, says the expo was a great learning opportunity for producers and industry professionals. Day one was filled with on-farm tours, learning more about manure research and practice. In addition, a variety of educational topics were covered at the expo, including using manure as a crop fertilizer, nutrient management, soil health and water quality. “Whether you are a farmer, business owner or ag professional, a lot of it focused on the basics of manure. How do you take a sample? Why do you take those samples? How are they used? There was something for everyone.”
