Grand Forks, North Dakota farmer Paul Sproule is beginning the sugarbeet pre-pile harvest. Farmers can only harvest 68 percent of acres at this time. American Crystal Sugar Company lowered the limit due to sugarbeet yield estimates of 34 tons. “This is evaluated every week and we’ll see where that curve moves on our yields once we get going,” said Sproule. “I know this dry weather has had a huge impact on what’s going on right now with our sugarbeets.”
