Three Democrats are on the ballot for Tuesday’s Minnesota primary election for governor. At Farmfest, Attorney General Lori Swanson said farmers should be included in the discussion when regulations are implemented. Regarding buffers, “there were problems with how that was rolled out,” said Swanson. “Maps used by the DNR were from the 1970s and didn’t reflect reality.” State Representative Erin Murphy, who is the DFL-endorsed candidate, praised the entrepreneurial spirit of Minnesotans. Murphy also highlighted the importance of trade. “This trade war that is happening in the United States of America is no good. I know what you want is open markets, not a $12 billion gift from the federal government.” Congressman Tim Walz said he would be a champion for biofuels and not let the federal government guy the Renewable Fuel Standard. “Why would we spend $1 billion per day importing our energy from countries that hate us when they can hate us for free and we can create jobs all across Minnesota?”
