Dry conditions continue for the northern plains this week. North Dakota’s Agricultural Weather Network interim director Daryl Ritchison says next week’s rains will likely be hit or miss. “It’s pretty hard to get widespread rains in August. It’s one week away, so you never know for sure, but I seriously doubt we would see widespread rains from anything next week.” Ritchison says the general trend is cooler than average temperatures. “Western North Dakota compared to Eastern North Dakota is pretty hot. There will be a warm stretch this week, but I don’t think it will be a trend for the rest of the month. I still would contend that we will see cooler air moving on in and that it will balance off the heat.”
