The entire North Dakota congressional delegation has been selected to serve on the farm bill conference committee. North Dakota Senator Heidi Heitkamp says the top priority is getting the bill completed before it expires on September 30. “With everything that’s going on in our markets, we need to give farmers the predictability of knowing we have a strong farm bill.” Heitkamp’s second priority is to do no harm to direct support program such as crop insurance, Title I and ARC County/PLC. “We also want to make sure there are no major changes to the sugar program.”
