Bayer Crop Science District Sales Manager Mark Haugland says Bayer’s acquisition with Monsanto is moving along. Financially, the acquisition closed on June 7. At the request of the Department of Justice, Monsanto must hold separate until the divestiture of the products to BASF is completed. Bayer anticipates this process to wrap up in a few weeks. “The Liberty Link platform and a number of other products move over to BASF from us. The whole scenery is going to change as far as who is responsible for selling what and that type of thing. Personally, I was disappointed Liberty Link had to go I understand why the DOJ did that and why we had to give it up. I was disappointed. It’s very good technology. BASF will do well with that. The technology is very much needed with what’s going on out in the marketplace.” Haugland says from a seed side, things will be pretty clear by the end of August, early September.
