Farmers need good marketing plan, especially with trade uncertainty. Northland Technical and Community College Farm Business Management Instructor Betsy Jensen says the basis should be part of the consideration. “Basis has already switched to the new crop basis and it’s not looking good if you have old crop remaining. If you have new crop, talk to your elevator manager about trying to do a basis fix.” Jensen says lenders are concerned going into harvest, but fortunately there’s a decent crop.
