NDSU Extension cereals plant pathologist Andrew Friskop says scouts on the spring wheat tour will likely find some head scab as they scout fields. “One of the easiest ways to look for it is when you still have some green heads out there, you’ll see some partially bleached spikes on there. As you get later into the growing season, you even start seeing a fungus which is a salmon orange colored fungus on the spike.”
