In Mitchell, South Dakota, CHS Alliance grain merchandiser Terry Nutter says wheat has been slowly coming into the elevator for a week week. “Some of the crop is still pretty green, just not quite ready. Yields are all over the board. We’ve had some in the 45-to-50 (bushel per acre) area and some close to 100. Protein levels vary, but actually on the good side probably 13 (percent) and some up to 16. A test weight has been pretty good on the majority of it, probably a 61 or 62 (pound) average.” The Mitchell, South Dakota area was right on the edge of the extremely wet conditions this spring. Harvest Hotline is sponsored, in part, by AgCountry Farm Credit Services.
