Kansas Wheat Commission CEO Justin Gilpin says hail storms made some damage to the wheat crop during the growing season. “The strip right through Sharon Springs is probably one of the biggest hail events. It actually started in Colorado and moved almost a 200 mile track of a hailstorm that went about 10 or 15 miles wide. It was pretty unbelievable the damage it did in May.” Gilpin says the bright side is better quality.
