The Onida, South Dakota area endured heavy rains and hail in the past couple of weeks. Oahe Grain location manager Tim Luken explains a large area of Sully County is impacted. “Last Wednesday morning, they had a major one that came through here. It started in the northwest part of the county. Anywhere from five to ten miles wide and it went all the way down to the southeast. Last Friday, we basically had a hail storm that flipped across the river and then started in the northwest part of the county where it had hailed. It took out a big huge swath of the county.” Luken says farmers will try to replant something, but the time is short. “There is some replanting of flowers going on right now, but that’s going to be all Mother Nature on the back end if they make it.”
