Sugarbeet fields will be closing the rows soon, which means controlling cercospora leaf spot becomes the main focus for sugarbeet growers. SESVanderHave sales manager Nick Revier says choosing the right fungicide can be a challenge. “The fungus has developed a resistance to many of the fungicides that we’ve been using. The challenge is going to be to have the right mix at the right time and also to get out and scout those fields so we catch it early on. Once the fungus gets ahead of us, it’s really hard to play catch up. We need to stay ahead of it, we need to stop the disease before it gets it’s an established too high of a population where it becomes very very difficult to control.”
