Gordley and Associates lobbyist Dale Thorenson says passing the Senate farm bill was a big hurdle. “We need the certainty of getting this done by September 30. Frankly, I didn’t think it was going to happen, but it is moving forward. I can see a scenario where the bills are conferenced through a few weeks in July and you could see this done by the end of end of July. But that’s maybe getting ahead of ourselves. It’s happened in the past where it does not get finished.” Thorenson says the Senate will not likely accept the SNAP changes found in the House bill when it comes to conference.
