Before President Trump’s North Dakota arrival, North Dakota Farmers Union hosted a “Rally or Agriculture”. Nestled between a line of tractors and grain trucks at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds, farmers made their message clear with chants and signs. Leaders of state farm organizations and hunger advocates showed support for agriculture, amid ongoing concerns with trade, ethanol production, nutrition programs and the farm bill. NDFU President Mark Watne says trade has a direct impact on every farmer’s bottom line. “More than ever, we need a strong crop insurance program, safety net and laser focus on issues that impact farm income.”
